The World Yacht Legacy
World Yacht brought the luxury dinner cruise business to New York City in 1984 and became the vanguard of experiential dining, hosting the sociocultural luminaries of the 20th and 21st century. Our vessels set the standard, both in terms of excellence and experience, for the ensuing three decades and created many enduring memories in the process.
Today, both the market and our customer is evolving. At the same time, the neighborhood around us — the crossroads of Times Square, the High Line and Hudson Yards — is undergoing a massive transformation. As a result, the time has come for us to innovate once again, to reinvent experiential dining and, in so doing, make a new identity for World Yacht’s home at Pier 81, as a social, culinary, and entertainment destination for New York City.
Our first phase of this transformation started in May 2014 with the opening of the North River Lobster Company which has been a smashing success. North River Lobster Company, NYC’s only floating lobster shack, remains one of the hottest casual dining spots in New York.
As part of the next phase of this transformation, we expanded another yacht in our fleet of floating restaurants to include a second new concept that opened May 2016. The new restaurant, Hudson’s, is a new 3-story seafood lounge and restaurant designed by New York Architect Andrew Franz, designer of Bar Q and La Marina.
Hudson’s features a rooftop bar for dining and drinking and an expansive indoor lounge and bar area and a unique private events space. Hudson’s distinguishes itself by offering patrons short sailings on the Hudson River, several times a day, boasting sweeping 360-degree views of the Manhattan skyline with an “out of city” experience.
The World Yacht brand lives on through our remaining World Yacht vessel, the Duchess. The Duchess is available for private events and charters, offering New Yorkers and visitors alike the ultimate charter yacht experience with 5-star service and unparalleled views of New York Harbor.
